Monitoring of disaster area until 2020 and provision of information

Asia Air Survey Co., Ltd., (President and Representative Director : Kiichiro Ogawa) will use aerial photography to carry out monitoring of the area affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, and will make the information publicly available.

As a part of our EcoFirst activities, AAS has since last year been planning monitoring of the area affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. The aim of this activity is to monitor the state of recovery mainly of the natural environment of the area affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami so that the data can be put to good use in various fields such as reconstruction work, work to restore the natural environment, academic research, etc. The first stage of the aerial photography has now been completed. We will make a contribution to society and provide support for research by making this data publicly available.

In concrete terms:
(1) The aerial photographic digital data of the disaster area will be provided free of charge to researchers throughout the world, for purposes of study. As a condition of use, any research carried out using these aerial photographs must be credited to AAS and the research paper published on the website set up by AAS.
(2) Aerial photographs of the disaster area will be provided to the government and municipal offices of the relevant cities, towns and villages.
(3) The data may also be used for other purposes.
